Exif

Exchangeable Image File Format (Exif) data is embedded in most image files. It contains date and time information, camera settings, and additional meta information like titles, descriptions, and copyright details.

Imported Info

When you upload your images, we import the Exif information associated with your files and store it in our database. If you’ve included titles, descriptions, or geographical information in your Exif, we automatically associate that data with your photos and can make that information visible to both search engines and visitors.

Stripped Info

To improve download performance, we then strip that Exif data from the 130 resized images we create from your original photo. That Exif information within the image file isn’t used by search engines or browsers. More importantly, that data makes your file sizes larger than necessary.

Removing that unnecessary information helps ensure that your images load quickly in every browser viewport.
